The Five Case Model in New Zealand

“Appraisal, done properly, is not rocket science, but crucially important and needs to be carried out carefully."
- Joe Grice, HM Treasury

Developed by the UK Government and now adopted by NZ Treasury the method is being used by state sector organisations, local government, District Health Boards and the private sector. The Project Laneways courses are based on the APM Accredited International version, of the Five Case Model. We also provide guidance as part of the course on how the Five Case Model is applied in NZ.

Fundamental to the Five Case Model are the principles of;

  • Quality analysis
  • Thinking not writing
  • Effort is adjusted for the size and complexity of the initiative
  • No surprises
  • Governance and ownership and;
  • Alignment with management processes

"Thanks for unlocking the mysteries of PRINCE2 for us. The combination of your relaxed, expert training style, the useful real-world examples and the excellent resources made me confident about both the exam and about taking PRINCE2 back to my real world. I’ll definitely be recommending Project Laneways."

Tracey, July 2015

"....I really think Prince2 is going to make a huge difference to the way we manage projects.

That aside, you personally were fantastic. The course delivery could easily have been intense, dull and boring (I have been to enough seminars/training courses to know that). But you made it relevant, interesting and engaging. A testament to your skills as a trainer."

Publications Coordinator, April 2012

"Just wanted to drop you an email to say thank you for the PRINCE2 course. I really enjoyed it and can attribute much of that to your experience and delivery style. I will definitely be recommending you to anyone who wants to train in the future."

Application Analyst, May 2012

"..... really appreciate what a great job you done facilitating the course especially as you could give so many real examples...I think that helps in learning the PRINCE2 methodology."

Project Coordinator, July 2012

I will definitely recommend PRINCE2 (and specifically Project Laneways) to my friends and colleagues; I thought it was a fantastic course."

Stacey, February 2012
