Better Business Cases™

Foundation Level - 1.5 day

By attending the Foundation Course you will gain the knowledge and understanding of the Five Case model required to either work with a team, or as a member of a team developing a business case using the model.

The Foundation course covers the;

  • Underlying rationale for the Five Case Model
  • The different types of business case, their purpose, who is responsible for them and when they are used in the development of a spending proposal
  • The 5 key questions addressed by the model are;
  • Is there a compelling case for change?
  • Does the preferred investment option give value for money?
  • is the proposed deal commercially viable?
  • Is the spending proposal affordable?
  • How can the proposal be delivered successfully?
  • How the development of the Five Case Model fits with other recommended best practice such as PRINCE2® and MSP®

At the end of the Foundation course you will sit a 40 minute 50 question multiple choice exam. The Foundation qualification is a pre requisite for the Practitioner course and qualification.

Better Business Cases™

Practitioner Level - 2½ days

The content of the Practitioner course covers all the aspects of preparing a business case using the Five Case Model. You will explore and understand the 10 steps required to develop a business case using the Five Case Model.

Using practical examples you will link the Spending Objectives for the Spending Proposal with the Critical Success Factors. Based on this information the Options are developed and then refined to produce a Short List.

At the end of the Practitioner course you will have the knowledge and confidence to apply the model to a real project.

The Practitioner Exam is held on the morning of the 3rd day of the course and is a 2½ hour open book, multi choice, objective test exam format.

The fees for both the Foundation and Practitioner courses include all relevant materials, exams, refreshments and our FREE exam resit guarantee . NOTE: a Foundation level pass is a prerequisite for anyone wishing to take the Practitioner course
